Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. I often say to myself, “Oh, I’ll get to that tomorrow.” Well, tomorrow is just hours away! I have decided to join author Tara Lazar’s PiBoldMo challenge…to come up with at least one picture-book idea per day for the month of November. Sounds easy enough, right? Well, I am hoping to be inspired and motivated to keep the fresh ideas coming. I think it’s a great idea – the brainchild of Tara Lazar:
She is an author who created this challenge for those who love the concept of NanoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) but want to work on picture books instead. It’s an honour-system program…participants’ ideas are for their eyes only. No submitting or sharing, obviously! Check out taralazar.com for more information. Great prizes, inspiring blog posts by authors and illustrators, and oodles of motivation are in store for those who have already signed on. (There’s still time to register.)
Kudos to Tara – a picture book author who encourages other picture-book authors! Some would see that as inviting competition, but if you check out her blog, you’ll see she is committed to KidLit and the people who write it. A true colleague in the broader writing community. Best wishes to all the participants!
November begins tomorrow. So, here goes!
With an extra hour of sleep tonight, I just may dream up something good!
